MR. CLATTENBURGERNEST R. CLATTENBURG BOSTON -- Ernest R. Clattenburg, 81, of Brockton, formerly of Dartmouth, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury after a long illness. He was the husband of Caroline (Ramos) Clattenburg. Born in Eagle Head, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the son of the late Ernest S. and Helen (Culp) Clattenburg. At age 15, he moved to the Greater New Bedford area. He lived at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton since 1965. He was a communicant St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth. He worked as a shipping clerk at Atlas Tack for many years until his illness. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dartmouth Memorial Post 9059. Mr. Clattenburg enjoyed playing the mandolin, banjo and fiddle for square dancing. Survivors include his widow; a son, Peter J. Clattenburg of North Dartmouth; two daughters, Ann M. Correia of Henderson, Nev., and Carolyn H. DeSouza of Fairhaven; a brother, Donald Clattenburg of New Bedford; three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late James E. Clattenburg and Helen M. Clattenburg; and brother of the late Joseph A. Clattenburg and Lewis S. Clattenburg. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
